Commander’s Message
Welcome to Post 7814 in Staunton, VA. For all members and visitors, this website has all sorts of information, especially about upcoming events. Visit the Calendar page to see what is coming up, and Click on the event to get details, directions, etc. For veterans investigating our Post, we encourage you to stop by any event. Our monthly meetings are usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month.
Our latest events were the Independence Nursing Home Drive-By Parade, officially hosted by us, but really organized by our Quartermaster Melissa Patrick. There motorcycles, Jeeps, Corvettes, Military Vehicles, Mustangs, Firetrucks, Pickups, etc. We visited 6+ nursing home to bring a little Patriotic Spirit to the residents.
On July 4th, we were at the head of the Happy Birthday America July 4th Parade. Our own Melissa Patrick was Grand Marshall! Many thanks to Chester, Albert, Albert Jr. and the entire Auxiliary for making a good showing & providing a trailer. Thanks to Lexie for jogging and taking professional photos. Dale Kerns & Melissa looked great in uniform, Jim Fye carried the banner, Frank said hello to possibly every attendee, and I waved an Army flag for the first time.
Coming up we have our July monthly meeting. In August another meeting, Coast Guard birthday, inspection from District 11. September is busy with the District 11 sponsored Valley Ride (bicycle) For Heroes, VFW Department of Virginia required School of Instruction for one of the officer, Monthly meeting, and Air Force Birthday.
At every meeting we have food, and for July it is chicken corn chowder; I hope you can make it.
We just started using some software that makes it easier to send text and emails, so expect more of those communications to keep you informed of what we have going on.
